I'm looking into getting this Viao, should I want to run the occasional high end game, how well will it cope with that video card and processor and memory?

Would that be classed as a high end laptop? Or just middle range?

The CPU and RAM are fine for gaming. You just need to make sure that ATI Mobility GPU will work with any game you want to play. Probably check the games you want for requirements and see if this GPU meets them. That would be your only hangup with this configuration.

I didn't really have any games in mind, was just wondering if the video card would give up at anything remotely graphically detailed.

Thanks for the confirmations guys, looking forward to getting it.

That's a beauty. Nice stats.

You will love i7 along with dedicated ATI card. Nice HD, too.

That VAIO seems pretty much a monster without the price tag some higher end laptops can ask for.

Enjoy.

Looks good! I guess the only nasty surprise could be battery life during normal use, does it say?
