Gee, I hate to break it to dullards like Nagin, but the city only exists as long as there are people living there and working and paying taxes. No one living there = no tax revenues = no money to pay anyone.

People have gotten the wrong idea... people come first, THEN you have a city. We shouldn't keep cities around "just because".

Its sad - all these people have been through the hurricane and its aftermath, only to lose their job. It might be a good thing, though - it might be the straw that makes them move out of town so they won't have to deal with the rebuild.

Regardless, though, its not going to build any confidence in the powers that be....

that's a good thing?

What should Nagin do? Print his own money, or talk to Santa Claus?

I am not sure why do you blame the major for this. what can he do?
shouldn't part of all the millions in relief aid/donations go to support these kind of issues?

I hope this guy doesn't decide to run for reelection next year cause I don't think he has much of a chance to win. What will his slogan be. "Vote for me I ruined New Orleans."

It's very sad for those that have lost their job. Hopefully the rebuilding will create new jobs. Just rough for the interim. :(
