Hi all,
I am trying to set up windows 10 via boot camp on my retina-macbook (non-pro) 2015, equipped with 1.2Ghz Core-M and Intel HD Graphics 5300. There is following problem however:
The first phase of the windows installation is completed correctly, I get full resolution and so on. But after the installer boots the machine for the first time, I can see the blue windows logo on boot, but after that just black screen. I suspect this is the part of the installation process where the GPU-driver is installed. Only way I found to reboot the machine was by holding the power button.
I was able to complete the installation via VMware fusion bootcamp-VM, and from there I can trigger safe mode on next boot, and then I get graphics on real hardware boot too (without real gpu acceleration of course). From safe-mode I tried installing various versions of intel graphics drivers with no difference, and also the one provided by apple on boot camp drivers. I cannot install the whole boot camp driver package though, as it is not supported in safe mode or inside Vmware-VM.
I also checked via external HDMI-display that machine is not outputting to secondary display, and also tried to change default brightness-setting of windows power saving plan to 100% (as someone had this kind of problem in another machine). I also tried installing a older windows 10 build (1607) instead of latest (1803) but no difference. I even downloaded Windows 7 media as it would be as useful as 10 to me, but then I found out that it is not supported by boot camp on this machine any more..
Has anyone had similar troubles? Thanks for sharing any tips
