I have given my friend some DVD's to watch on his MBA. For some reason they picture is completly dark in Quicktime and VLC, including DVD Player. Brightness is turned up all the way with charger in, even brightened the settings completly in System Preferences, any suggestions? He just purchased the MBA 2 months ago the SSD version.

Could be anything... have any screenshots? That is what will help people determine the problem. Also, it's just the windows of QT and VLC that are dark? Please explain further what "dark" is? Meaning is the whole display bright for every other app but in those apps it's dark like black?

It's when VLC and QT are in a small screen and full screen. By dark I mean the picture has no light to it, all you can see is the faces "barely" no scenery, clothing, action or anything, it's just black. Using other applications and without shows the screen is bright, but movies for some reason are dark.

What the file format.
