I have a late 2006 White Macbook that I bought in Jan 2007. It has AppleCare until Jan something, 2010.

I went on a trip a week ago or so for 4 days. I came home, opened my laptop, and nothing....it was off. "Oh..." I thought to myself, "the battery must have died since I didn't leave it plugged in"

I plug my computer in and turn the computer on. It boots up and I notice that from then on, the light on the power cord is always green and the battery doesn't charge at all. Unplugging my power cord means the computer shuts off.

The latest coconut battery dies a horrible death when I try to run it, and the System Profiler says the following:

Code:
Battery Information:

  Model Information:
  Serial Number:
  Manufacturer:	DP
  Device name:	ASMB016
  Pack Lot Code:	0002
  PCB Lot Code:	0000
  Firmware Version:	102a
  Hardware Revision:	0500
  Cell Revision:	0102
  Charge Information:
  Charge remaining (mAh):	0
  Fully charged:	No
  Charging:	No
  Full charge capacity (mAh):	0
  Health Information:
  Cycle count:	561
  Condition:	Check Battery
  Battery Installed:	Yes
  Amperage (mA):	0
  Voltage (mV):	6506

Why would my battery all of a sudden start doing this?? Before I left, coconut battery stated that its health was 100%! I had my battery replaced once about 2 years ago (it was defective and no longer held a charge after only 80 cycles). Could it be a problem with the charging mechanism in the Mac and the battery might actually be fine?

I'm really not sure what to do. I followed the steps to reset the SMC (I assume it did it since there's no feedback that anything happened) and even followed the steps to reset the PRAM just for giggles.

Any ideas? AppleCare wouldn't help me at all in this case if it is the battery, would it?
