My MacBook wouldn't boot and the screen with the blinking folder with a question mark appeared. So then I booted off the "Mac OS X Install Disc 1". However, when it asks me to "select a destination volume to install the Mac OS X software", I can't select my hard drive. There are no options for me to select. What does that mean? Is the HD broken?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, new to the forum, but the same thing happened to my iMac G5 a month ago . After much messing it did turn out to be the HD! I had to upgrade to my current iMac. You could try a genius?? Hope you have more luck than me..
