Hi all,

My girlfriend's blackbook HD is dead (I tried to zap the Pram, Install DVD, Firewire Mode with my MBP, but her drive doesn't show up, only the folder with the question mark). Now I have read in the internet that it is very easy to replace the harddrive on a mb, so we decided to try it ourselves.

I found this, but does any of you know where to buy somewhere else in the EU (we live in the Netherlands) a Macbook drive? (it's a Sept '06 BlackBook)
I know it should be a 2,5" SATA drive, but I wonder if we should check something else...

Sorry for the long post and thank you!

That WD disc is perfect - you should be able to get the small philips (size 00) screwdriver in any toolshop. You will also need a T6 torx screwdriver to remove the 4 screws which hold the caddy to the hard disc.

you need a Torx T8 not T6 for the macbook hdd caddy. (the mbp requires a t6), the Western Digital is perfect. Just go to your local hobby or toolshop and pick one, any t8 will be good. If you want to be 100% sure on how to install the hdd, check out youtube

Well, I ordered the drive and i expect it tomorrow, and i got the the tools already. I'll post if I can fix it.

Thanks to everybody!!!

Hi everybody!

The hd replacement worked perfectly!. It was a bit scary to mess with the screws and the hd itself, but now she has the same account (thanks to TM), but with the storage capacity doubled;).

Once more thank you all!!!
