I just have a quick question.
I have a White MB (2.1Ghz, 4GB RAM, 500 GB, Intel x3100, and a White MB (2.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, 120 GB, Intel 950) and have lost the OSX CD's. I will be calling Apple, as I'm sure they will send me replacements but I'm just wondering if I can use another computer's CD's. My girlfriend and her sister both got MBP 13" (2.53 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 250GB, Geforce 9400), and their mom got MBP 15"(2.66 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 320 GB, Geforce 9600GT/9400) for Christmas and I also have a couple friends with Imac's. One has the new 27" 3.33 Ghz,4 GB RAM, 500GB, radeon 4670) and also last year's Imac 24" (2.66 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 250 GB, radeon HD 2600 PRO).
I need to format both of my laptops and I'm wondering if ANY of the above computer's cd's will work for me.
Thanks in advance.

OS X comes on DVDs nowadays, and no, you can't use another Mac's restore DVDs to install Mac OS X on your Mac, unless it is the very same model.

For instance, you can use a MacBook Pro's restore DVD with any other MacBook Pro that has the same model, like MB986LL/A. But you can't use that DVD to install Mac OS X on this machine (MB985LL/A), even though both are only differing in CPU speed and some other aspects and share the same model identifier, MacBookPro5,3.

Search would have brought this up too:

Thanks for the advice guys, sorry I tried searching but didn't come up with much. I'll give that method a try and if it doesn't work, guess I'll just have to call apple. Just didn't want to wait haha.
