MB Pro 2010 Keyboard & Trackpad Freeze

Hi, I am experiencing problems with my 2010 MBP. It works fine except for that if i stop typing or moving the mouse with the trackpad both the keyboard and trackpad will lockup and become unresponsive. I can resolve the problem temporarily by closing the lid and pressing the power button to wake it from sleep. but if i dont touch my computer it will become unresponsive any ideas?
