MB Pro Beeping and freezing

Last few days my macbook pro has started freezing up as soon as it gets to the home screen and has a series of beeps, (beep, beep, beep, on and on).

I recently downloaded Google drive and the problems seem to have started after this. I've got to power off holding the power button and go through this a few times. Did a search and seems G drive might be the problem.

Google browser seems to kick my fan on constantly too. Anything I can do to remedy that?

Upgraded from 4 to 8G OWC ram and checked it to make sure it is seated.

Specs: 2.3 Ghz I5
Ram 8G 1333 DDR3
OS 10.6.8

Are you getting a sequence of three beeps? That normally means bad memory.

Turned off Google Drive from auto starting and this seem to fix the problem.
