Just a quick post to reinforce what others have said... at first I was very reluctant to even try to the new MB Pro, but BestBuy had them in stock and matched the $1199.00 Amazon current offer, I could not pass up!
After dealing with my 16 Inch Base MB Pro overheating and slowing down, I decided to try the new MB Pro, base model. I have been using it for about 48 hours now, and so far, I love it. Performance wise, and this is my work machine, it feels as fast as my 16 inch system. Battery life, as others have said, no comparison. Yes, speakers are a bit weaker, but I can live with that.
I've had it in clamshell mode all day today, and I am yet to hear the fans, once! By now, my MB Pro would have been ready for lift off, with the fans running like crazy. I restarted it a few times as well, super fast boot times.
Super happy so far, I may sell the 16, and wait it out.
