MB Pro (mid-2010) Crashing to Login

I have a Mid-2010 MB Pro w/Samsung EVO SSD. I did an inplace upgrade from Sierra to the latest HighSierra Public Beta.

I am getting frequent crashing from Finder back to the user login screen. Disk Util check ran cleanly. Just trying to open Chrome consistently is cause it to crash back to login.

Any ideas?

If WindowServer fails it will restart and bring you back to the login screen (unfortunately will take down all your open apps with it).
Facing similar issues (especially with Chrome) on my older GeForce-graphics based 2012 MBPr.

Have a look in the console application and check the system reports logs.
You'll most probably find WindowServer spin and crashlogs together with GPUrestart logs and Chrome spin/crashlogs with stack traces directly pointing to the geforce driver.

The new Metal implementation with high sierra for the WindowServer and the GeForce graphics drivers seem to be not that stable so far for this 'older' hardware in the moment.

I filed a bug report for the Nvidia GT650m, you may do the same for your Nvidia GT320/330m based 2010 model.

That appears to be what is happening as I saw several entries regarding WindowsServer crashes in console. Opened a feedback item on it.
