Hi everyone,

My Macbook has been running great for 3 years now & I love the thing but 2 days ago I plugged in my ipod to update & it froze. I gave it a few minutes to try to sort itself out but all the apps were frozen & eventually the cursor was unresponsive so I had to power it off manually.

When I went to turn it back on I got a weird blue & gray screen with the Apple logo distorted. The startup circle is spinning fine & is sometimes distorted also.

Then the screen turns purple & red & says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button...." but when I do this the problem persists.

I have inserted the Snow Leopard Install DVD & attempted to boot from it by holding C during start up which did not work. I then tried to boot from the DVD by holding cmd+option+shift+delete & this also is not working.

Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated in advance.
