Is it just me, or is the location of the USB ports just not well thought out? I mean, if you add a mouse, the right side of the MB would just make more sense, wouldn't it?

The iPod and other peripherals, it doesn't really matter, but the cable yuk from simply adding a mouse drives me nuts!

Get a Bluetooth Mouse or USB wireless Mouse. That's how I solved it.

And nearly all mouse cables are easily long enough to reach behind the machine.

if the usb port were on right side wouldn't the mouse wire become entangled and bunched up on the right?

thats what i thought shortly after i got my MB!

it would at least make sense to have at least one usb port on the right side seeing as most people are right handed (sorry lefty's) and lots of lefty's use their mouse right handed.

I still like the general set up of my MB though, i use a wireless mighty mouse as well, but if i did want to use a regular usb mouse i would be very annoyed evertime i used it

I think it makes more sense when it's on the left side, like it is at the moment.

If you had it on the right, and were using a wired mouse, wouldn't the wire and plug get in the way? Also, if you wanted to plug in any USB accessory, wouldn't the cables and plugs get in the way of your mouse, regardless if you're using bluetooth or not?

Meh, it's just one of the little things that bug me, is all. I use a wired trackball mouse (Logitech 4-button Marble mouse) and have done so for years. "Normal" mice that actually move around also bug me, and make my forearm sore (my work stresses my forearms, and I just don't want to add more stress and risk carpal tunnel or RSI).

Sure the wire is long enough to go around the back of the MB, and at least this way when the MB is powered from the cord, you can clip the cords together for the illusion of neatness/tidyness.

It was just something I was wondering about, as the MBP appears to have a USB port on the right side.

Oh, and yeah, I'm a lefty that uses a mouse with the right hand. Always have!

If you're a switcher then in time you will get used to it. It's not that big of a deal.

When I got my new car I hated that the button to open my window was put next to my shifter instead of on the door. But now I have really grown to like this new location. Give it time man.

What I hate is how bunched up they are: a friend gave me a 1G-Shuffle-with screen-like Samsung player, and at the time I was also running my MB off an external. As the player was kinda thick, I could not plug in my external HD aswell. If I was desperate, I could just get a USB hub, but it was just a pain...

I'm right handed and use the mouse with my left hand.

My dad is left handed and growing up, the mouse was on the left. I got used to it after a whle :)
