I've just ordered my new MBA 13" i5 with 8gb ram and the 256gb ssd. This will replace my current MBP 13" 2008 c2d with 4gb ram.

So how much more powerful will my new machine be? Twice? Three times? More?!?!?

I'm a big fan of Moores Law ... really interested to see if it applies here :)

Its not so straightforward as saying it'll be two or three times faster etc., the biggest difference you'll notice will be in boot and application opening times and any tasks which involve accessing the file system, as the SSD in a MBA (or any SSD-equiped computer, in fact) is much, much faster than a "traditional" hard disc.

I have a late '08 base model 15" MBP and even my 2010 base model 13" MBA blew it away (2.4 C2D in MBP, 1.86 C2D in MBA). The SSD makes everything faster. It'll feel like a super computer compared to your MBP.
