Hi,

I'm in love with the new MBA, but I also need good performance. I'll go with the 8 GB of RAM upgrade, but I'm also thinking about getting an i7 upgrade. Do you it is worth it (for the price)?

Thanks

And is there any noticeable difference in the mba 11 between the i5 and i7 with regards to heat and/or fan noise?

For the rMBP the jump from i5 to i7 is significant.

I expect it might be the case here too.

I upgraded to the 1.7. To be honest 140 bucks to jump 400 mhz on each core alone would have sold me but the extra cache on the i7 sold me. But hey thats just some random person on the Internets opinion.

What can an extra cache do?

I went for the 1.7, resale value and future proofing playing a big factor in my purchase. Everyone needs are different look at your usage and how long you want to keep the laptop for.
