That message usually means the update is already installed. How old is you machine?

Bought it the day it was released.

Unless it installed itself with the battery being dead, I had just put it on charge and checked out MR when I saw the info about the SMC update. Before that the laptop was dead from the night before.

Well, my SMC Version (system) is 2.4f19. Check yours out, and maybe some of the posters here could also check.

SMC version doesn't show any longer.
One is from iMac showing SMC the next is from the MacBook Air.

For late comers.... make sure you've updated to 10.8.5 or a) it won't install if you manually download and try to install, b) you won't see it in the updates list.

Any issues on a 2013 MBA? Another forum post mentions how his MBA would not turn on after he applied the update.
