This cant be for real? at first I thought it was in low light but over the last week and lots of zooms and FaceTime for work, this has to be the worst web camera I've had since like 2005. Grainy as hell, blurry and just outright potato quality.

Most laptop cameras are pretty bad. The lids are too thin to have anything decent.

Yeah not the best but at least my MBP 2015 works alright in good light. I’ve heard on here that some newer cams are worse!

Yes, I agree to this fact because even I have experienced the same. As a matter of fact, few of the earlier models tend to have a better resolution and clarity compared to the newer versions, which should not be the case.

I hope they listen to us all and try to improve the camera quality. At the moment, it is just pathetic and I hate to handle my FaceTime calls on that. I’ve actually stopped using it for video calls long back, which is a shame! I feel relieved that you guys also feel the same rage like I do.

A lot of people saying they're all bad, but my bfs MacBook Pro from 2014 is 10x better than my 2020 air. This is possibly the worst webcam Ive ever encountered on any Mac in my life. I have a super old MBA 11" and its better than this which is pretty ridiculous lol

I've just purchased the newest macbook air and the camera is AWFUL compared to my 2012 11 inch air! I'm furious that apple even tried to make out this was an upgrade - i wouldnt have bothered otherwise. I spoke to a sales advisor who swore blind it would be so much better.

The camera is about the same as your 11”. The main issue is for you the screen is so much better and you see the poor image so much better. Yes it should be a better camera.

You would think so, and I thought it would too, but during a group call both screens were shown to all my customers side by side and they could immediately tell the difference and were shocked to find it was the old 2012 that was the clearest (and much wider) image

Reckon the quality can be improved slightly with a software update? I know there will be limitations but wonder whether something can be done.

I had to return my new MacBook Air 2020, for only one reason the camera is terrible. I'd be embarrassed to be on Zoom and say I was using an Apple product.

I feel like im the only one that doesn't mind a 720p camera. I don't need the world to see every spot and wrinkle I have.

You are not the only one.. me too ;)

In fact, I prefer to zoom with my MBP and the lower quality camera. When I use one of my iPads, everything is much too clear, not only my face but also the background at home, my clothes, etc.

I would like to have the option to switch between higher and lower resolution on the front cameras ☺

The only Mac with a decent camera is the new 27" iMac with the 1080p camera instead of the 720p fossil. However, I'd still just use an external webcam instead. You can even use a GoPro as a webcam, which many people are being forced to do since you can't find a normal webcam anywhere.

That makes sense... many of the Windows laptops have 720p webcams but not many people complain, it's also because of expectation of high quality from Apple for the price they charge.
