Hey folks,

After 2 hours of reading every single post in the user review for the brand new 2020 MBA. I'm wondering how much of you are going to return the MBA 2020. In my case, after reading everything, I think I'll pass and get the 2019 model, which is in sale in Costco right now (with AC+ included).

Can you explain why so?

I don't know what you're reading in the user reviews, but it's full of negativity and nothing else that's probably a good case study for the unreliability of user reviews (especially early on) rather than anything else. I've had mine since yesterday and I love it so far - couldn't be happier with it. The only reason I'd even think of returning it would be if there was some sort of new MacBook Pro announced tomorrow that was somehow the same price, and even then I'd probably think twice.

I believe even with a new MacBook Pro, it will still have a TouchBar. That is a factor for some people as well.

But why would anyone have bought an air in the first place if they wanted a TouchBar?

How is it using it on your lap? My Macbook Pro 13" 2011 runs hot on the lap, most of the time to the point where I have to move it off or put a cover in between. Was thinking maybe the MBA 2020 will run cooler?

Older cpu, worse keyboard, seems like a win from here!

In reading both comments on this site and reviews, it is definitely faster than my mid 2017 model. If I were to make the move, the model with an i5 processor, 256 gig SSD, and 8 gig of Ram would be enough. But I would need to see 1) a price drop/sale, and 2) being able to sell my 2017 model.

Seems every new model has its vocal detractors.

and all the silent folks who happily enjoy their purchase

My 2012 MBP 13 also running hot. But my dell once new, and my 2012 MBP were not hot at first, when i bought them.
Later on after 3 or more years the got hot on a lap. I have opened my 2012 MBP last week, and there was almost non thermal paste on it. So it really just a matter of you applying new thermal paste, since original one dried out. That is why it burns lap.

Thanks for the advice. I suppose ifixit will have the steps. Can you PM me of the thermal paste you used, if you don’t mind? Thanks.
