Hello MBA users. I wonder how long does it take for our MBA 1466 to boot. I have an entry level MBA A1466, i5, 4 GB RAM and original Samsung 128 GB drive.
It takes Big Sur 11.1 to boot approximately 35 seconds. While this is not "big deal" for me, a few other people that use this laptop also, immediatelly noticed that it boots slow. I think that it is probably OK taking into account HW performance, 6 years old laptop and the new OS.

I would appreciate if someone has a similar A1466 with Big Sur to compare boot times.

Thank you.

My 2020 M1 MacBook Pro takes about 45 seconds to boot. I think your time is reasonable.

Have Absolutely same laptop. Along with the boot time, I had super lag issues with it and new Safari was basically unusable. Went back to Mojave and still loving it. This was way back in Nov last year.

Since you’re still running it, and I am assuming it must have gotten some updates till now, is your experience any better? Is boot the only problem and the system snappy otherwise? I would really want to get back to latest updates but the whole experience with Big Sur is keeping me back. Cheers.

...I suppose you've checked to see what else is included in the boot process - say, 3rd Party apps? Any chance they are dragging down your boot time?

Hello. My Big Sur version is 11.1 and all my updates are turned off. I have noticed that all applications start bit slower, but nothing that cannot be tolerated. Once application (MS Word for example) is started, it runs OK.
I'm not sure, but Catalina booted 10 to 15 seconds, which is must faster comparing to Big Sur.

Thanks for the reply. How is the new Safari? Is it snappy and responsive as in the last version? My main problem was Safari when I was on Big Sur. It took so much time to load and then it was slow as f to work with, it seemed unoptimized as hell.

Actually I haven't noticed any problem with Safari. It is responsive and fast. Safari version is 14.0.2.

Don't do this man, you're tempting me :p

whenever I pull out, they pull me back in
Overall the laptop is slower. Boot time is slower 15sec vs 35 sec and applications starts bit slower. With this mind I'd have never updated. Just wanted to learn if this slow boot time isnreally slow comparing to other users and their notebooks. I just don't want to go back, I'm afraid to screw things up.
