How bad is it to keep an MBA plugged in most of the time? Is there any conditioning or upkeep that is needed?

Read the battery faq on this site. Apple recommends you run it down to 50% every few days.

I noticed my battery life actually increased a few mah doing this ove the course of 3 months.
