MBA back light keyboard

ok i just dont get the back lit keyboard and how it works. its as if it works when its dark sometimes and then other times it wont come on unless i press the brightness up key.
help

Are you new to the backlit keyboard?

This is how the backlit keyboard works. It uses the ambient light sensor to trigger the backlit system. When the environment is dark, it lights up, then it is turned off when detects enough light.

You can also turn off whether it reacts to ambient sensor or not. I prefer it this way, since I seldom need it.

It is in the keyboard control panel --> "Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light."
