MBA cannot connect after TC 7.6.1 upgrade

I have a MacBook Air running Snow Leopard that cannot connect to a 4th gen Time capsule after the upgrade -- it worked fine before. My MBP running Lion has no problems. I get the message that it is connecting to server but it never connects and the CPU gradually escalates to almost 100%. I rolled back the upgrade to 7.6 and it worked fine. I reinstalled the upgrade and it worked for a few hours but now it is back to the old message.

Any suggestions appreciated.
