I just picked up a 2011 MBA to replace my 2010 and I'm having a weird problem when using it clamshell mode. I used the 2010 with SL for quite some time this way. I would just plug in my external displays (one via displayport->DVI and one via a USB VGA adapter), hit my bluetooth keyboard, and everything would work through the external displays only.
With the new MBA I do the same operation but for whatever reason the internal LCD comes on as well... Having never opened the MBA I can open the lid and the display will be active... Every once in awhile things will work correctly and only the external displays will be active but it seems very hit and miss. Sometimes I can open the laptop and close it and only the external displays will then be active but it doesn't always work. I don't think it's a sensor issue because the laptop shuts down correctly with the screen closed, it's just an issue with external displays...
Besides mission control being almost useless for me since they eliminated multiple monitor support in spaces, this is my biggest issue.
