I have a 2011 Macbook Air that I have plugged in directly to a DSL modem through a USB ethernet adapter. The internet worked perfectly without adjusting any settings.
However, I am trying to use the Transmission bittorrent client and "my peer listening port is closed". This happens regardless of whether I have the Mac Firewall turned on or off (and if on, obviously I add Transmission to the list of applications allowed to receive outside communication).
When I am connected through a router obviously I would set up port forwarding to my Mac's IP address for the chosen port, and that solves it.
How do I open the port when I am connected directly from my Mac to the DSL modem?
