Hey.

Been googling for about an hour but I can't figure this out. I tried using switchresx as well, but no go.

I have the latest MBA and I'm trying to connect it to a 27" 2560x1440 display.

Using both a miniDisplayPort > VGA and > DVI I get no higher resolution than 1080p.

Also, I'm about to start work at a new place soon, where I'll be getting a MBP, and I need to know what I have to do to get that to work with the same display. (I'm assuming it's the same as with the MBA, but I don't know?).

Is the machine not able to output 2560 through a VGA/DVI adapter, or what am I doing wrong? What other adapter do I need?

Thanks a lot.

max horizontal res with VGA is 2048 (from memory). To get over 1080 you'll either need a dual-link DVI or stick with native displayport (if possible).

Native displayport as in displayport on the monitor? The monitor does have a displayport, but don't i need an adapter for that cable as well?

you can get a mini-displayport to displayport cable, it's what I used to connect my MBP to my Dell U2711. It's by far the easiest and with least problems.
