So I really like the air and was wondering can the 13 inch play some light games at low settings will it also last me 4 years?I also want to run a few programs like logic occasionally garage band I consider my self a casual gamer and a mid user or should I go for a rmbp with either 4 or 8 gb of ram?

IMNSHO the MBA is not a gaming platform. It's a great all around laptop but lacks the horsepower for the high FPS which modern gaming seems to require.

It will handle most games at lower setting as many youtube videos have shown.
However, with the new generation of consoles coming out, I think that system specs for most games will rise significantly in the following 4 years.
So if you are ok with playing games that are available right now then the MBA should be good. But I wouldn't count on playing the latest games in 4 years.
