I've been tempted and mulling the purchase of an MBA now, but because I don't want to pay the current premium for the SSD, will I be able to swap out the HDD for an SSD in 6 months or a year when prices head down and capacities go up?
Thanks!
D

Yes. Definitely possible. I made the swap this week. Took about 15 minutes. And I used the same exact model Samsung SSD used by apple. Lets just say I have friends that know people that distribute SSD's. Retail price on the Samsung SSD is $1599.00.

The physical swap is very painless. follow the thorough DIY guide on Anantech.com. Although, I was able to get away with the swap without having to remove the battery.

Antech reported the connectors being slightly different. They still fit but somewhat loser than what comes from the factory. ;)
