All -

In a bit of a quandary. I'd like to get a laptop for everyday usage - Office, light video editing, photo editing, lots of presentations, etc. For larger projects I have a 2020 27" iMac. So this is truly just for carrying around.

I'm trying to decide between a 2020 MBA with the 1.1 i5, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB storage and a 2020 MBP with the 2.0 i5, 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB storage. Both are available in the refurbished store, the MBA is $1295 and the MBP is $1529 (through the military/veteran store). Is the MBP worth the extra $234? If it is, I don't mind getting it, although I confess to preferring the MBA form factor and the lack of the touchbar. And I understand the differences - the MBP will be better on sustained loads, better iGPU, four ports, the screen, etc.

Thoughts appreciated!

The MBP is worth the extra money provided you can live with all its drawbacks -- more weight, runs hotter, touch bar. For the tasks you mention the MBA is plenty. There are many reviews comparing the two on YouTube.

Yep, I've had a 13" MBP. Ordered a MBA, but it'll likely go back depending on what Apple announces Tuesday.

Thanks, by the way!
