Recently purchased a base model MBA M1. Really impressed, especially with the battery life compared to the i3.

Anyway, one difference I have noticed is that scrolling in Safari doesn't feel as smooth when scrolling down pages with lots of content e.g. Twitter, forums, Netflix etc. It feels a little 'choppy'. Nothing deal breaking, but noticeable compared to the i3 or any recent Intel MBA/MBP I've had over the past couple of years.

Anyone else experienced this?

Scrolling, especially on the forum is not smooth with the M1. There have been a few threads on th subject.

Apologies for not searching - that would have been the obvious thing to do. Oops.

Going to return mine and pay extra for the Pro, a few have said it doesn't appear to be an issue there.

It's not the end of the world, but when you're using the same machine for 8+ hours a day, and as a frequent Safari user it's pretty irritating/wearing - especially when it didn't happen on last year's supposedly inferior i3. Scrolling on some sites feels like I'm using a much older laptop or a really old iPhone. Seems to be any website with lots of vertical content and images to load.

Feel a bit of a dick returning/exchanging it for a pretty trivial thing but having paid £1k for a laptop to last me the next couple of years as my main device it has to be right.

This is disappointing to see. Does the problem happen with Chrome as well?

I had an M1 MBA for a day and I didn't notice any issues with scrolling in Chrome, but it's possible I just wasn't paying enough attention.

I just did some scrolling on my M1 Air and it was smooth as silk. So I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.
