MBA M1 does not restart after being asleep for a while - a few =hours
Have to hit escape key twice to wake it - is this normal shouldn't it just restart when lid opened - computer is otherwise OK
16GB 2TB SSD and 8/8 processor

Weird issue as now after doing reinstall of Big Sur still doing
Only apps I installed were MS Office 2019 and Acrobat 2017 for Mac and Carbon Copy Clon - (never done any backup yet) AS I say everything works great fast ,silent cool and good battery life just this issue annoying me.

Apple suggested trying in safe mode when it still happened and even pressing escape key twice did not wake it I had to press and hold start button and then press again to get it to rebooty

They then suggested trying to completely eras and reinstall and try it with only factory setup ie before putting on Office Acrobat and Carbon Copy Clone
If I thought this was only a software issue then OK I would hold onto it but if hardware then I would have to return
Any advice / help appreciated
Thanks

If you've updated to 11.3 and it is still happening, I would say it sounds like a hardware problem. As far as I know, there is no setting that will produce the problem you are seeing. There used to be a pmset option called "lidwake" but it appears to be gone on the M1 MBA.

Thanks jdb8167 I'm beginning to think this is the case I am going to Apple Genius Bar on Tues to hopefully find out but worried that if they keep it too long ie beyond the 14 day return period and its still not right after any fix or they say they ca find nothing wrong with it then I'll not be able to return - would not be a problem except I bought it refurbished from Apple store and as it was a lot cheaper than a non returned model I'd want to keep it.
Actually makes me wonder now if Apple really do check out returns and resell as good as new again ?
