So I bought a T5 SSD from Samsung for personal and Time Machine backups. The instructions state to unplug the SSD after ejecting when the indicator turns red. However, most of the time, the SSD won’t blink red even after ejecting. It still remains in a steady blue light. Is it still safe to unplug the SSD after I eject it from my Mac while the light is in blue? No matter how long I wait, most of the time, it doesn’t turn red.

I have two T5 SSDs that I use for backups and both of them will display the red light after the eject command is given. The red light will stay on for several seconds and then go out. At that time, the T5 can be safely removed.

Don't know if it matters, but I attach the T5s to a TB 3 port on my iMac. TB3 port is compatible with USB C.

To answer you question, if the T5 is still showing the blue light, it's probably not safe to eject. You can try a force eject or even a reboot to see if that helps.
