Sole owner since new and was working yesterday but now it’s not…nothing has changed. Official charger using magsafe doesn’t even have a light and usb c doesn’t work either. Since these are M-series chips are there any combination of buttons to try besides just holding down the power button?
 
Try using a different charger. It may be the Mac is not getting any power through the usb c or mag safe. Also try other outlets.

If this does not help and you tried ten second power button hold down with Mac plugged in I would call Apple and troubleshoot with customer service. If they can't give you steps to resolve the issue they may suggest support options to get your Mac fixed.

Good luck and I hope it resolves itself. Another idea is to just let it set for a day without using it and not plugged in. Then the next day try plugging in using various chargers and cables and see if it will boot up.

Yeah, tried all that and nothing so I have an appointment at the Apple Store. Interesting how Apple doesn’t have a diagnostic feature on their chipsets, it’s basically the power button or bring it into a store. Oh well, hopefully I can back it up at some point.
 
Apple Store said it was a logic board failure and wanted $700 to replace it. Less than 2yrs old and a catastrophic failure.

Currently working with online customer support who up channeled it to tier 2 support. Hopefully I get some money or credit. I’ve never had an Apple product straight up destroy itself.

If the machine is under warranty, there will be no charge to you. If it's not, you are responsible for the cost.
It’s NOT under warranty and they just called back stating they would cover the cost of the repair so that’s a win for me! Probably cause it had to do with the logic board which should be a rare issue but who knows why they were being nice about it.

A failure after 2 years is unacceptable considering the cost of these machines. They want you as a repeat customer and a little goodwill goes a long way toward a good customer experience. I usually buy AppleCare because I'm concerned that I will have an accident and you don't know you need the insurance until you do!

If you go to an Apple store or talk to an employee on the phone they will almost always say whatever is wrong is something you have to pay for if it is out of warranty. Almost always.

Unless you go up the customer service ladder to a supervisor or email Tim Cook. If you are nice but persistent then they will almost always cover the repair. Apple is much better in this regard than a lot of PC OEMS but it is a industry practice to deny claims out of warranty with tier 1 customer service.

From a business perspective if you can get the customer to pay for a repair you saved the company money. So they all try at first to make you pay.

Once you go up the CS ladder and they realize they could lose more money if a repeat or loyal customer was too upset to buy their product again they generally would rather do the right thing at that point because having a repeat customer is very desirable for companies. Apple probably more than other companies wants repeat buyers and those who buy multiple Apple products.

I am very happy Apple is doing the right thing for you. They should regardless of warranty specially for a logic board failure!
