I'm a college student. I currently have a 2011 13in MBA, but I'm giving that to my girlfriend because she desperately needs a laptop. So it's time for me to start looking for a replacement.

I love my MBA but sometimes I also wish that I had a disc drive included. I hate having to plug up the external drive. However, I've only used this for when I've needed to import CDs into iTunes, which has been a total of about 10-20 times in a year.

After having owned both the iPhone 4S and 5 and played with the retina iPads, I am in love with retina. So it would be cool to own a laptop with that magnitude of a display.

My main uses are: web browsing, writing papers, powerpoints, iTunes, burn an occasional cd, etc. I'm not really a power user. I don't make movies or music, or edit things like pictures. SSD is a must. I love the speed of them.

I love the portability of the Air. It's perfect for taking to class and walking around with. But a part of me wants to have the DVD drive that the Pro includes.

I'd like to stay in the price range of $1,200-$1,700. And I figured whatever I want would be easy to obtain in that range. I've built 1 of each type of laptop, so this is what I'm looking at:

2013 11in MBA ($1,449)
-2.0 Ghz
-4GB memory
-256 SSD

2013 13in MBA ($1,499)
-2.0 Ghz
-4GB memory
-256 SSD

2013 13in MBP ($1,599)
-2.5 Ghz
-4GB memory
-256 SSD

2013 13in rMBP ($1,699)
-2.6 Ghz
-8GB memory
-256 SSD
