I saw an ad on craigslist where the guy is selling mid-2009 mba that he purchased in Dec 2010. How is this possible? Why would a reseller sell a 2009 MBA when a newer version is available?

Also, he doesn't have a receipt. Is there a way to verify that the machine is not stolen?

Please help.

Thanks!

If the machine is reported stolen with Apple, contact Apple and verify the serial number, but often this doesn't happen (the reporting to Apple), thus no complete certainty exists.

But many retailers often have an older generation of Macs still for sale while a newly updated version is already on sale.
