Thinking maybe its time to get a new MBA

Anyway the machines fine but thinking I'm gonna do the Apple trade-in thing. Recently used Swappa for a watch and just a couple of hidden charges I didn't expect and a little more work on my part.

Anyway in the process of getting the estimate, the estimate tool asks if you have a power brick to return (the trade in difference is 10 bucks). The mid-2013 come with a 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter with cable management; MagSafe 2 power port.

So, 1) do you think its OK to keep the "cable management" cord and just send them the brick?, 2) do you think that 6 ft cord is compatible with the new brick? It seems like the connection is pretty universal for Apple.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

If I were you, I'd look at keeping it if it still works well and fills the need.. Unless you have money to blow. This 2015 of mine works fine on Catalina. I won't be updating to Big Sur. If you do get a new one, it may come with that, definitely if you get the new M1. I've spent a small amount of money on this 2015 to give it some "upgrades". Put new battery in it, and the 2tb SSD. I think I'll be just fine with this for several more years.
What makes you want to get a new one? Maybe just look for a newer one that's good and cheaper, and doesn't have the butterfly keyboard.. Also one that you can replace at least the SSD yourself.. I guess it's all in what you want to do and how much money you have. As far as what you have to send back, check with Apple. I'm sure they have details somewhere.

I bought this MBA new in 12/2013. I did the Big Sur upgrade, and I replaced the battery about 2 years ago (current cycle count 468). Ive got the 4/128 config, even after cleaning the SSD I run with about 40 GBs free and its a little pokey. I could probably do a full factory reset and pick up maybe 10 GBs. With my educators discount and the trade-in puts me in at about $630-640 for the 8/256 MBA, so might not be a bad upgrade its just having that long cord is nice.

Yeah, 4gb/128gb is a little small. If you must go new, get the most you can afford.. But be warned, you won't be able to do any future hardware upgrades to it. SSD is not user serviceable. Soldered directly onto board. Not sure about the battery though. Apple is totally killing the ability to service your own devices.

my 2010 MacBook air 4 gb ram Mojave is my main computing source and works great today while syncing with the iPad.
i would keep any MacBook air simply because the resell is not worth the price.
