Mba restart problem(urgent)

Hi all
I was restarting my MBA and I got a message saying I need to restart my computer hold down the power button ubtill it turns off and then press the power button again.

I have done this so many times and it keeps asking me this when on my log in screen. Can anyone help with this one?

Thanks in advance. I am using my iPhone to write this.

As you still have warranty, you can go to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Reseller / Repair Shop.

Have you installed any applications recently, and if so, which?

Thanks for the reply. I will have a look through the links you provided.

The only thing I have recently tried connecting to my computer is a new HP laser jet printer.

When it comes to apps etc. I have had utorrent on my MBA. But that's been there for a month now. Nothing else installed recently.

I have apple care. I have booked myself an appointment tomorrow at genius bar. However trying to see if I can get this resolved myself though. Any advice?

It's best I go genius bar tomorrow. Done want to risk messing anything up. What am I looking at her guys worse case scenario? Am I looking at data loss? As don't have an external hd or back ups of some files on my mac. Been saving to get a time capsule.

You can boot into the Lion Recovery partition (hold CMD-R at boot chime) and re-install Mac OS X, if you choose to just install OS X without first erasing the drive your data should remain on the drive, however don't quote me on that. I would go to a genius bar and ask them if they can help, they should be able to use Target-Disk mode to access the drive from another Mac (I believe TDM is allowed via USB on the MacBook Air), and then allow them to guide you through the process of re-installing OS X

The advice you gave worked. However did go to the genius bar, and this is what they told me. So did it when I got home. Now going to invest in a external HD for m MBA

Well the low ball backup approach is a USB stick and save your most important stuff on that along with maybe using something internet based like dropbox.

That gives you 2 possible ways to get stuff back at least some of your stuff.
