Hi,

So basically my MBA Rev A shut itself down for the billionth time after overheating. So I gave it a whack and reapplied the thermal paste for the second time, a lot more generously this time, as in a goop as high as I could make it. This lowered the temperature 20+ degrees centigrade.

That's the good news, the bad news is I couldn't boot into Lion to see that. I put those two small cables next to the harddrive in and out like 60 times. I tried the suggestions of SMC/PRAM reset, the drive simply isn't detected. Neither with Option held down nor in Snow Leopard.

So I guess the cable connecting the SSD to the board could have shifted or that the SSD is dead, which I doubt. My 00 philips screwdriver also didn't like one of the screws which mounts the SSD, so that will be annoying to remove.

Should I get a ZIF to USB enclosure and another screwdriver to see if it still works? The two small cables have been finnicky before, not booting one time and when moved a bit acting normal. It has never taken this much time though. Is there anything I could try to do with the visible cables?

Thanks!

-Update: Turns out, giving it a G shock can turn loose the ZIF cable because it is so loose. Pressed down the screwdriver hard with a piece of cloth between the screw and it.
