My partner has started using a MBA (rev B, HDD), and she loves it to death. It's perfect for her. She uses it everyday, home and work, for VERY light usage - Word, Powerpoint, Firefox (with AdBlock installed) / Safari, Mail.app, Facebook etc.
Thing is, every now and then, it slows to a crawl, even after rebooting. t I have seen Firefox or Word take forever to open, even just 5 minutes after a reboot. Once, Activity Monitor took over two minutes to open, but once open, showed plenty of RAM and CPU time free. Huh??
Sometimes some of the buttons stop responding. E.g. the screen brighter or dimmer keys will stop working, even though the rest of the keyboard and mouse work fine. A reboot sorts out the keys, but it's still unsettling.
(YouTube works fine BTW)
What's up?
I am wondering if it is to do with the fact that when she got it, I used Apple's Migration Assistant to transfer everything over from her old iBook.
Could still it be that various outdated bits are causing the stalls? Means I will have to wipe the disk and reinstall, but I don't really want to do that as my partner tends to work 24/7 and it's difficult to get the Air away from her
