Evening everyone,

Sooo....

First week of November last year, my MBA's space button stopped working, I took it in to the Genius Bar in Leicester (From which I live around 40 miles away). The Genius Bar people have replaced the whole keyboard and top case for free as it was still in warranty - had to wait a few hours for it to be fixed. Literally begged for it to be done on the day as I'm a nervous driver and motorways in the UK scare the living hell out of me...Not to mention petrol and other expenses.

And what happened? About a week ago my MBA would not power on, tried all the hard resets and other stuff which Apple recommended (Spoke to someone on the Chat option). Nothing was happening so got myself booked in at Leicester again...Got there today on time, emptied my pants (as I had to drive on the motorway again) and gave the laptop to be repaired. The diagnosis was:

'After a quick look, the IPD cable might be faulty so we will replace it'

They have replaced it but the problem still persisted so they changed the keyboard and top case yet again as the power button itself was broke (So it turns out). Exactly a year later after the new keyboard was fitted, I needed to get it replaced again! (Free off charge as it's still in warranty)

Has anyone else had the same issue? I mean, the MBA is not used very often and it's very rarely when I use the power button itself, but how RARE is it that the same problem occurs in exactly a years time? The warranty runs out in September next year, what if it happens again when it's out of warranty? I don't want to pay 132 pounds for a repair, when eventually the coverage runs out.

Could anyone give me any tips as to how to speak to them if the keyboard breaks again? (touchwood). I told the chap who fixed it that its bizarre that exactly the same component broke within a year - he said that if it breaks again and out of warranty the case can be looked at differently as it's broke again etc etc. But that's no consolation for me...
