I wasn't even considering the MBA, but after some research there have been some compelling arguments for it over the MPB (screen quality, SSD standard, shape). I'm going to be using this laptop as my main computer (for a while), doing some recording and editing in addition to design work (photoshop, illustrator, inDesign).
I've been stuck on a 2007 iMac for the past few months and am having some difficulty comprehending the processor difference between a 1.7ghz core duo (imac) and the MBA 1.8ghz i5. And furthermore trying to gage if there is going to be a noticeable difference between the 1.8ghz i5 and 2.5ghz i5.
As far as price, they come out about even. If I did go for the MPB, I plan to replace the optical drive with an SSD and upgrade the ram, which of course is adding to the cost overall. This cost actually comes out to $85+ more than the base 13" MBA with 8gb ram.
What do you think? Would the air be adequate or should I shoot for more processing power?
