MBA with external hard drive

Hey guys,
I got new MBA with 128gb because I hadnt enough money for 256gb.
I would like in the future to install windows 8.
Is it possible to install it in external hard drive and connect it to the MBA whenever I need ?

Yes that should work fine. Make sure to get external HDD with usb 3.0, it is way faster than usb 2.0

Usb 3 and HDD will be fast enough? Or to get SSD or thunderbolt hdd?

Also, do I need the external drive to be formatted to work with mac and windows?

No. Windows will not run on an external hard drive, during windows start up it cycles the USB ports and will crash. (Correct me if I am wrong but thats how it used to be.)

But honestly, for the price of an external drive you could save up a bit of money, sell the 128gb ssd and get a 256.

Its not possible becuase I returned from USA a week ago.

Maybe, but if you didn't have money to buy the bigger SSD, i doubt you will have it for an external Thunderbolt HD. They are expensive.
