Mbook-Pro not recognizing iPhone

Hey everyone,
I know this is a topic that has come up many times because I've seen the titles, but now that I need it, I cannot find it for the life of me.

So here is my issue. I plugged my iPhone into my new macbook pro but when I straight into itunes, it's as though nothing is plugged and the computer wont recognize that anything is even plugged.

HELP! how can I fix this??

happened to me today. Just got a new i7. Re download itunes and it should work

restarting usually solves a lot of problems

check you have the latest software updates.
Can you get your photos in iPhoto? do a test, so that way you check if the cable is OK.

In this case, a restart didn't work, and iPhoto didn't recognize it, and software was all up to date (wow, we all do think alike ). FWIW, it didn't recognize my iPad, iPod touch, but it did recognize a nano.

BUT, that's just me. Good luck OP

BINGO! I restored my iPhone and iTunes picked up on it. Was able to get it working again. Thanks a lot!
