Hello all

Hoping someone may be able to help or advise.

Recently installed a brand new UJ857 superdrive in a Macbook Pro 1,1 running 10.6.8, (this is a cloned drive of my MBP 7,1), to replace an old defective superdrive.

The MBP 1,1 works fine with 10.6.8 except the new DVD drive is not recognised by OSX? I can hear the drive spin-up ok so power to it seems fine. I popped a DVD into the drive, it didnt automount to the desktop and is also not visible in Terminal or Disk Utility.

Am i missing drivers/firmware?

Can anyone please help?

Maybe there were issues with the cloned drive. Do you have any way of installing Snow Leopard over top of the current system? That could fix any issues stemming from having a system from such a different machine.

Thanks for your replies.

I dont think there are any issues with the MBP 1,1 cloned drive as it was a completely new install on the MBP 7,1 master (source) drive.

All updates were applied successfully to both machines, too.
