MBP 13" (2.3GHz i5, OSX 10.6.7) can't detect 23" AOC Monitor (e2343F2, LED, 1920x1080p) via HDMI

Have verified the by Mini DP->HDMI (Moshi) and HDMI cable by connecting the MB Pro successfully to my Samsung HDTV at 1920x1080p and have verified the AOC monitor can be driven through its HDMI port by successfully driving it with a Dell PC with an HDMI video out.

Any ideas?
