Anyone else had a problem where you wake up your laptop and notice that the battery is being drained even though it is plugged in?

This has been happening to my mbp 13 2017 touch bar lately, and my AppleCare ran out a month ago :/ The only "fix" is to restart the OS.

Is this related to battery health management? Cause I disabled it, and it started charging.

Other details:
- this is during idle, no cpu and gpu usage (fans at 0 rpm)
- re-plugging the cable doesn't help
- I do get a "ding" and the screen gets brighter when plugging in the cable
- this is with both original chargers, including 96W and also a new original cable
- tried SMC and NVRAM reset
- system report shows "minus amperage" (means battery is draining) and that the AC charger is connected
- doesn't matter which usb-c socket
- battery cycle count is around 44 and says its condition is normal
- 10.15.6
- most of the time the mbp is plugged in

Try disabling power nap. Power nap allows your Mac to continue fetching things like email and notifications even when it's asleep. Depending on your setup, this can drain battery.

I mean the battery is being drained after I wake it up, not when it is sleeping. I wake it up and see that the charge percentage is dropping from 99 to 98, etc., even though the charger is connected. I just wonder if anyone experienced this as well.

This sounds like the battery health management feature - especially if it stops when you disable it. It will try to not charge your MacBook to 100% every time to preserve battery health.

Welcome To The Club, mine has been doing this at least 2 or 3 times a day!?
I would say it comes down to preference. If you don't want your battery to discharge at all while plugged in then you should disable the battery health management feature.
