MBP 13" 2017 non tb: sound from internal speakers randomly stops

This is becoming really annoying. Every so often and without warning the sound from the internal speakers in my MacBook Pro just stops working. All settings appear normal. The only way to fix it is to reboot. From searching online some people are also having this problem but there doesn't seem to be a conclusive fix. Do I have any options other than taking back to the Genius Bar?

I have the same hardware and I had a similar problem but it was with the BT connection with an external speaker. When song changes, sound suddenly stops. I had to reboot the BT to get the sound again. However, with the new High Sierra update, 10.13.5, the issue was solved. Are you updated your MBP to the last OS?
