MBP 13" 2020 audio lag

I am connecting my MBP 13 2020 to an external monitor with build-in speakers using a usbc cable, once I pause a video for a while and resume it, there is no sound for the first two seconds from the external monitor's speaker. this doesn't happen to my MBP 16 2019 connected to the same monitor. anyone knows the cause? Thx! It's running on 10.15.6
