Hi all,

Anyone else having an issue with the screen flickering? Doesn't seem to be the display cable but more the onboard graphics card? Affecting me on the base model. Video to follow

I have much more intense flickering than in your video with my brand new MBP 13“ 2020, but only after detaching it from my external LG Ultrafine 5k monitor. It needs a reboot to get back to normal. Looks like another SW/graphics driver issue (had red and checkerboard flickers with the 2016 and 2018 models that turned out to be bugs in Mojave and went away with Catalina).

I was sure I noticed a similar issue today but it doesn't look as bad as the video. Seemed more subtle so I wondered if it was my imagination? Does it look as bad in real world as on the video or would you say recording it accentuates the problem?

I'll keep an eye on it next time I connect my Mac to my external monitor.

I have this issue too on my new MBP 13" 2020.

After a lot of digging and experimenting, here's what I've found:

1. It DOES NOT flicker when I run Windows 10 using Bootcamp
2. It DOES NOT flicker when I start up the mac in safe mode

The flicker happens only in MacOS. And its totally random, but seems to occur more frequently when there are apps like Chrome or Safari running.

This leads me to conclude it's a software glitch, most probably a GPU driver bug. I'm surprised why Apple hasn't fixed this yet, considering so many reports of users experiencing this problem.

Yeah, I returned my 10th gen 2020 MacBook Pro due to this issue as I couldn't be sure the display wasn't faulty. Like you say it was less noticeable in Windows so I was pretty sure it was an Intel display driver problem though?

Surprised there haven't been more reports of it. Have you seen any other threads about it?

Video available!

I'm having your exact same problem with my MBP 13'' 2020 Base Model since I updated it to Big Sur, but only watching several videos on YouTube and Netflix. There are also some small graphic bugs, but yesterday night I resetted NVRAM and it got better. Anyway, I noticed that with the new update on Big Sur my MacBook is having lots of problems with Safari. I downloaded Mozilla and it works VERY better. Has anyway got problems with Safari on Big Sur too?
