MBP 13" + 22" @ 1680 x 1050 = ?

Will this setup work?

Macbook Pro 2009 13", joined up to a 22" SyncMaster 2223 NW External display?

I would like to run it in dual display mode (?), with my MBP running at 1280 x 800, and the external monitor at either the max res, or any other res, as long as it's reasonably high.

Yea, you just need a mini Displayport to VGA adapter. Doesn't have to be apple certified.
